Who is Link Rayburn!?
Link Rayburn’s inspirations for HyperVigilanté are vast and diverse, like his own background. He grew up in a military family, immersed in 1980s and ’90s pop culture, earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism, and survived cancer at age 26. He’s also taken medical, legal, and personal training courses.
The idea for HyperVigilanté came to Rayburn after his girlfriend called him “hypervigilant” as he embarked on a solo road trip. During the long Interstate drive, he added another “e” to get “hyper vigilante,” then threw Chernobyl, a radioactive energy drink, and superpowers into the mix, and wrote the first few chapters as soon as he got from behind the wheel to a computer. Twelve weeks later he had a draft of this first installment of the HyperVigilanté universe.
Along with all things ’80s and ’90s, Rayburn enjoys weightlifting, music, firearms, photography, cooking, attending church, and Star Trek conventions—and, of course, old-school gaming and the original Nintendo Zelda games. He’s lived in Italy, Texas, Wyoming, Florida, and is now in Virginia with his girlfriend and dog.
